March  6, 2011

[Presenter] Reports reaching us from central Somalia say that Hundreds of Ethiopian troops with armoured vehicles have today entered Guriceel and Dhusamareeb districts of Galgaduud region, central Somalia.

The troops are reported to have set up military bases immediately after they crossed the border from Ethiopia.

A senior Ahlu Sunnah wal Jama'a official identified as Abdullahi has confirmed the presence of the Ethiopian forces in the region to the media.

The reason behind the deployment of the troops to the country remains unclear but reports indicate that these troops were escorting newly-trained Ahlu Sunnah wal Jama'a fighters from Ethiopia.

The move comes at a time when the Somali government backed by Ethiopian troops recaptured Buulo Xaawo District of Gedo region from fighters loyal to Al-Shabab Islamic Movement.
